The TD 609 device allows the multiplexing of two V.35 interfaces on a data stream G.703 E1.

The multiplexing is done on the G.703 interface that comes from network, on which are inserted two data channels Nx64. These channel are splitted on V.35 interfaces named UT1 and UT2.

The traffic breakdown is done depending on the timeslot used by the two V.35 interfaces.

It is possible (network side) to connect instead of the E1 interface, a V.35 interface type DTE (UT3), in this case the speed must be 2048Kbit/s and the data stream, that comes from network must be framed.
